All the hustle and bustle of the holidays has come and gone. The wonder and excitement of joyful gatherings, welcome chaos, and constant cuisine consumption is now behind us. An opportunity is now before us to experience something different. This might be somewhat difficult for us - especially after so much busyness. Despite our Lord being the focus in the previous abounding season, it is challenging to slow down once it’s all over.

However, I encourage you to carve out in your day to be alone with God. Early in the morning, as you begin your day, find some quiet time to be still and know that he is God (Psalm 46:10). In the middle of your day, pause and meditate on his Word (Psalm 119:15). At the end of your day, be silent before God and enjoy his holy presence (Habakkuk 2:20).

Being alone with God is a beautiful thing. You will develop a great sense of communion and understanding of the Great I AM, as you do. Only good can come from being alone with God throughout your day, friend. He will reveal himself to you in ways you didn’t expect or could not have imagined.

It’s a new year, make it a new you because you are making time to be alone with God.

Heavenly Father, please help me make time to be alone with you. I want to know you more in this new year - I pray in Jesus’s name.
