Alive in Christ

Our God extends the first invitation because he is conscious that our weakness and our sinful nature stand in the way of our union and intimacy with him.

Though these words were delivered with so much mercy to the Israelites, they nevertheless ring true today. We are a people who have experienced God’s mercy and our hearts can only respond with gratitude. I hear the Father in heaven calling out to everyone who feels as though they are too far gone from grace and unworthy of pardon.

I am amazed at how many times I have failed in life, yet God's mercy has always been available for me. Trying so hard to change, but failing miserably, I was blind to the fact that I couldn't purify and save myself from my folly. I extended my hand in confidence toward Jesus Christ, who is the only one who possesses the name by which man may be saved (Acts 4:12).

He forgave, restored and clothed me in his righteousness. This same mercy is available to anyone who responds – come now, he still beckons us. Why wait when there is no other aid available except the loving savior and redeemer of our souls?

Have you ever awoken feeling terrible as a result of the many decisions you may have made that have only led to emptiness? Are you tired of living a life that society considers to be shameful? Having your head bowed because of feeling unworthy? Jesus loves you and desires to restore you. There is no sin too grave for him to forgive. Allow him to fashion you into a new vessel for his glory.

Heavenly Father, I surrender to you. Purify my heart, cleanse me from my sins and make me whole, a new creation. Today, I accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour of my life. Amen.
