Is there ever a time in our life where we experience complete happiness? It seems that when we encounter times where everything is going well, they are often clouded by an ominous sense that something bad will happen. Then, when we do have difficult days, we wonder whether they will ever end.

Life is not easy. There are constant things happening that are so beyond our control. Our happiness can turn to sadness within moments. How does one stay steadfast when life is like that?

Recently, a friend of mine experienced the birth of a grandchild and the loss of a good friend on the same day. She was filled with conflicting emotions. Her experience reflects how our days can be emotionally turbulent, simply by the happenings in and around our life.

It is essential that we are anchored in Jesus. “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” (Ps. 27:14) We are called to action: to wait, be strong, come to Jesus, and take His yoke and learn from Him. As we step forward and do these things God calls us to, He will give us a deep sense of peace. One of the most difficult things for us to do when we are hurting and burdened is to lean into Jesus. Our tendency is to nurture our pain and hurt. But Jesus is waiting to give us the peace we so need and desire. We simply need to come to Him.

Lord, I come to You today. I confess that I have been immersed in my difficulties and not waiting on You. I come to You Jesus. I give You my worries, concerns and my pain. I ask that You would lift my burden. I pray that the yoke I’m carrying would be light because You are giving me rest and strength. Thank You Jesus for the peace that You give me as I trust and rest in You. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Take Action

If you are struggling today, share about it with someone and have them pray with you--that you will come to Jesus and wait on Him so that He can give you the peace you so crave. God loves you and is waiting for you to come.

Find abundant peace this Christmas.
