What is truth? For many, it’s subjective or relative. The line between the truth and lies has been deliberately blurred by the worldly influence of those many. Good has been exchanged for evil while what's right has been swept aside.

Society's shift away from godliness and the pursuit of truth has been up for grabs and defined by individual interpretation. You can tell how far we’ve turned away from God's Word as soon as you turn on the news.

Yet, throughout the ages, people have turned away from God. So much of what the prophets said in Scripture parallels today’s events in alarming detail. I didn't grasp the dire importance of this until I experienced the saving grace of God and the Holy Spirit filled me with a hunger for the Bible which I believe reveals God’s truth. Its pages are rife with accuracies that simply can't be ignored or refuted when compared to world occurrences.

The times in which we live, when the perversion of God's Word is rampant, beg for careful self-examination as serious Christians. So, as a prayer warrior with a longing for Jesus to return, I need to take inventory of my faith, ensuring that I am aware, alert and watchful. Not only for the return of Jesus but also for declaring biblical truth in a world that sees no gain in knowing and following Christ.

Today's verse cuts to the heart of what it means to know Jesus as he reveals himself in the Bible — freedom. Freedom from falsehoods and fraud. What's written in the holy pages of Scripture is infallible and wields the power to set deceived individuals free.

So, as true followers of Christ, shouldn't we be declaring the truth that's worth telling? Were we not saved by the same truth that now binds us to Christ for eternity? The world aches for the absolute truth revealed by Jesus. Let's be the ones who share him with others, whatever the cost to ourselves.

Heavenly Father, I am free because of your absolute truth. Thank you for the way you brought me to that freedom. I am humbled and in awe by what your Word has revealed to me over the years. I am truly grateful. Guard me against even subtle deceptions that will try to lure me away from your truth. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Throughout This Day: Take stock of what God's truth means to you and what you're willing to do to keep and share the truth that sets you free.
