Can a person plant an orange tree and harvest apples? No. The fruit one receives depends on the seeds they planted.

Think about what you’re planting in your mind. Freedom of the mind means one has a choice. So, one needs to make the right choice to get the right result. Do you go to bed at night and leave the door open to whoever wants to walk in just because you’re free to do so? No, you close the door. You take responsibility for your safety.

God has given us the power to guard our minds. How should we use this freedom effectively?

We should close the door of our minds to the wrong information and open our minds to right and relevant information. If we give the mind positive pictures to work with, it will bear the right fruit. Consumption of relevant and clean visual programs, reading materials, and other media will keep the mind healthy.

Since God has not given us a spirit of fear but one of power, love, and a sound mind, this means the original and God-given mind is a healthy one. If we protect the mind, water it with the water of the Word, and stay away from fearful ideas, we can reap a fruitful reward.

We ought to keep our mind safe so the condition of the heart can be healthy. Then we will become more sound-minded people who make sound decisions, thus impacting the world to make it a better place.

Father God, thank you for your Word that says you have not given me a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Give me wisdom to make the right choices regarding what I permit my mind to have access to so I can please you. Amen.
