Locusts are tiny insects that can fly. They go to fields. They are not pleasant. No farmer wants them on their field as they eat what they can find.

So, why do they seem to be so dangerous even if they are tiny insects? No one tells them what to do. Yet, they have a sense of how they need to fly together. So, they do what they need to do.

They travel from place to place to find food. That’s because they were born with a sense of what is right and wrong for them.

Locusts like to be on their own, according to research. However, a group of locusts can get much work done. They work together in swarms. How do these locusts hone into disciplining themselves? They have no commander to give them the instructions. It’s not that they couldn’t do with one. However, it’s the way God made them. He gave them the wisdom to know what to do.

Finding someone to be accountable can help us do what God has created us to do as this encourages us to become more disciplined, right?

But whether or not we are able to be held accountable by others, it is so helpful to know that we can still do what we have been called to do, because God’s Spirit continually gives us the ability to obey him as we trust him to do so. Remember that you have a leader all the time, no matter where you are and what you do. You have God himself to look up to for guidance, and grace for discipline. We just need to lean into him.

Father God, help me live with purpose, be well-organized and do what I need to do by your grace, in Jesus ‘name.

Throughout this Day: Lean into God’s grace to do what is required of you.
